It seems that nothing is completely made in the USA anymore! Now it’s our prescription medications. That’s pretty scary. If your medication has been prescribed by a doctor, then you need to take it, and you need to know the medication is EXACTLY what it is supposed to be.
I have a suggestion. Let’s begin by making truth-in-advertising really work. When I’m watching TV, I don’t care to hear all of the side effects of any given medication. I don’t want to hear about erections lasting over 4 hours, or that taking this medication may result in “deafness, hair loss or rarely death.” (Rarely death??) I want the announcer to say, very clearly, WHERE the medication is made. “This medication is made entirely in the USA!” Or, “This medication is made in China, but distributed in the USA.”
And let’s carry that a little farther. How about a big notice on all packaging that says, “This product is made entirely in the USA!” Not in that teensy-tiny little type that is found on most labels. Make it big and bold – so the consumer can read it.
If a manufacturer wants to outsource his manufacturing process to save money – fine! That’s his choice. But as a consumer, I have the right to know that. If the manufacturer feels it’s OK to have his product made in China, then he shouldn’t be ashamed to say so, IN BOLD PRINT! Let him say proudly that he saved millions by having this product “MADE IN CHINA!” That at least gives me the choice to look for something made somewhere else.
If enough of us demanded this, it could happen!
